Kom kijken naar kunst in de kassen van de Oude Hortus! Vier dagen lang zullen de kassen omgetoverd zijn tot een tentoonstellingsruimte met kunstwerken die naadloos opgaan in de omgeving óf juist eruit springen en vragen oproepen over wortels; zowel van de planten als van de kunstenaars. Radix, rana is een kunsttentoonstelling gemaakt door een groep van acht Fine Art-studenten van de HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht) in de kassen van de Oude Hortus. Met schilderijen, sculpturen, licht- en geluidsinstallaties, video’s en performance zoeken ze uit wat het betekent om zelf een tentoonstelling te organiseren buiten de veilige muren van de academie of de ‘white cube’ van een galerie. Dat doen ze allemaal met hun eigen achtergrond in verschillende landen, instituties, culturen en maaktechnieken.
Come and have a look at art in the greenhouses of the Oude Hortus! For four days the greenhouses will be transformed into an exhibition space with art works that seamlessly blend into the environment or rather jump out and raise questions on roots; both of the plants and of the artists. Radix, rana is an art exhibition made by a group of eight students of Fine Art at HKU in the greenhouses of the Oude Hortus. Through paintings, sculptures, light and sound installations, videos and performance they try to find out what it means to organise an exhibition outside the safe walls of the academy or the ‘white cube’ of a gallery. They do this all with their own backgrounds in different countries, institutions, cultures and technical skills.
